Virginia Film Society has a Tuneful June
The Virginia Film Society at the Paramount’s program continues with three musical gems. This three film mini-season starts on June 7 with Meet Me in St. Louis, directed by Vincente Minnelli and starring Judy Garland. Unforgettable songs include Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and The Trolley Song. June 21 sees Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Jerry the Mouse in Anchors Aweigh. Numbers include If You Knew Susie, Anchors Aweigh and The Mexican Hat Dance. The season closes on July 27 with cult musical 1776, focusing on the days leading up to July 4, 1776 and the hilarious ensuing consequences. (Please note the date of this screening has been changed.)
